VOICE COACHING

ABOUT

Finding Your True Resonance

What’s in a voice? Well…lots! The words we choose can be important, but it’s how we say the words that gives them deeper meaning and maximizes the impact of what we are trying to express. This is the difference between a flat, dry “I love you” and a warm, heart-melting “I love you!” overflowing with emotion. The words remain the same, but the resonance we imbue them with determines how they change the world.

What does your voice say about you to others?

Does your inner voice match your outer voice?

While you consider these questions, let’s break down two big parts of voice: pitch and resonance.

Pitch is the tone or tones we produce when speaking or singing, and are represented visually as sound waves. Pitch is sometimes called frequency, which is named for how frequently the sound wave repeats itself.

Frequency is what you generate. Resonance is how your frequency affects the world.

Resonance is the result of those sound waves bouncing off the walls of a contained space, reverberating in a bowl, or reflecting off the person in front of you. If you sing a single note with your mouth wide open (i.e. “ahh”) and then round your lips, a different sound will be produced despite the pitch remaining steady. This change in sound quality is attributed to resonance: when you change the shape and size of the cavity (in this case, your mouth) the quality of the sound changes with it.

Resonant frequency, then, is the specific frequency (think tone) at which a system (like our mouth, chest, or even our entire body) naturally vibrates because the vibrational force matches the system’s natural frequency.

Okay, this science lesson is complete! So let’s go back to those questions.

How do others receive and perceive your voice?

Imagine the sound waves your voice creates: they vibrate outward through your mouth and bounce off of people you speak to. Perhaps those bodies begin to vibrate in a resonant frequency in response to the vibrational quality, or frequency, of your voice. They not only resonate with your message but also your voice, which carries your message with the energetic codes of your emotions and intentions. This is how your frequency affects the world around you.

Does your voice feel like “you” or does it feel like something is misaligned, or missing?

Just like all physical objects and spaces, your body has a resonant frequency that is completely unique to you. What I call “true resonance” is the pure and natural sonic expression of your soul, and I would love to help you discover yours.

HOW VOICE COACHING WORKS

gold-frame-page-divider-free-png.png

There are five major pillars of voice: pitch, resonance, weight, contour, and volume. Additionally, there are extralinguistic factors such as body language, gesture, and facial expression that all contribute to the how in how we express ourselves in communication.

Using recorded samples of your voice and bio-feedback exercises, we work through each of the pillars; making adjustments that liberate your voice from unconscious constrictions and activate the resonant frequencies of your body. Together, we explore tangible ways to sculpt your voice into something you love to use, allowing your true resonance to be heard and felt by those around you.

Accessing your true resonance can open doors you didn’t realize were closed, transforming how you share yourself with the world.
